“Lord, send me anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burden on me, only sustain me. Sever any ties except the ties that bind me to your service and your heart.” – David Livingstone
We are the Canns. Zach and Cass became Canns (plural) in January 2011. In April 2012, we welcomed a little buddy, Jude, into the mix and the newest addition to our family, Oliver, arrived in January 2014.
We left for Papua New Guinea in November 2014. And while it was hard to say goodbye to family, friends, our local church, and our home in Phoenix, they are worthy things to lay on the altar of Jesus’ commission to go and make disciples. And we are daily realizing that we have not given up anything compared to what we have in Christ because he gave up his own life as a substitute for us. As Jesus said to his disciples: “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life” (Mark 10:29-30). Truly, we’ve never made a sacrifice.
